The Story

A still red from the heart of Chianti Classico, 14.5% ABV, produced by Antinori. 100% Sangiovese, 2021 vintage. A Gran Selezione Badia a Passignano that embodies the history and passion of a family that has been producing wine in Tuscany for centuries. The grapes come from the vineyards surrounding the Passignano Abbey. After destemming and a gentle pressing, the grapes were transferred to stainless steel tanks, where they completed alcoholic fermentation. Once alcoholic fermentation was complete, the wines spontaneously underwent malolactic fermentation (MLF) by the end of the year in new 300-liter and 225-liter Hungarian barriques, and a small portion in new 225-liter French barriques. Aged in barriques for approximately 14 months. It expresses aromas of vanilla, chocolate, and coffee, with an intense ruby red color with slight garnet highlights. It's striking for its impactful structure, yet its power is expressed through the roundness and balance of its tannins. The sweetness of the palate and the aromas of blackberry and plum are lingering.
