The Story

Biondi Santi's Brunello di Montalcino is produced from the Greppo vineyards, which are between 10 and 25 years old. "La Riserva" instead comes from 25-year-old vines, only in exceptional harvests. It is a still red classified as DOCG Brunello di Montalcino, which can be considered the wine that wrote the history of the Montalcino denomination. Biondi Santi's Brunello di Montalcino is obtained from the lush Sangiovese Grosso vines, which grow within the eponymous estate, which boasts over 47 hectares of land. The harvest takes place around mid-September, and is done strictly by hand. After this initial operation, the long aging process begins; Vinification and aging take place in Slavonian oak barrels for at least three years, followed by further maturation in the bottle, which must rest in local cellars for at least another four months. However, the defining characteristic of this wine is its longevity, which allows it to remain in the cellars for up to a hundred years without negatively altering its organoleptic properties. The terroir also contributes to its prized qualities, characterized by marly soils and a climate that is temperate during the day and more crisp at night, with sunshine for over half the year. Known as a wine for special occasions, it has received numerous awards, making it famous throughout the world.
