Still red Châteauneuf du Pape AOC, 14.5% ABV, produced by Brunel Andre Les Cailloux in the Rhône region, France, 2019 vintage. Blend: 90% Grenache, 10% Syrah. 0.75L bottle. A wine made by a family that has been present in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape region since the 17th century. The soil and subsoil are not very calcareous, but there is plenty of clay both on the surface and in the soil. This compact blue clay gives the wine its mineral properties (graphite). A rich and expressive nose: blackcurrant, blackberry. Powerful and rounded on the palate: an impressively long finish, the tannins are perfectly soft. Aromas of undergrowth and leather dominate.
