The Story

The Amarone della Valpolicella Corte Giara La Groletta is produced by the Allegrini family, protagonists of the agricultural history of Fumane since the 16th century. Allegrini is closely linked to the Valpolicella DOC, which originates in the province of Verona, and thanks to far-sighted choices, the company is now one of the leaders in Italy, and it is precisely from the family's Valpolicella that the new generations of winemakers take inspiration. To keep up with the exponential growth of the company and reach a wider range of consumers by diversifying its products, Allegrini has founded other brands, including Corte Giara. This brand founded in 1989 produces young and innovative wines suitable for any convivial context.

The Allegrini Amarone della Valpolicella Corte Giara La Groletta is a very difficult wine to produce, as the drying phase of the grapes is fundamental and very delicate. It is produced with 70% of the best Corvina Veronese grapes and 30% Rondinella harvested at the moment of maximum ripeness to obtain a higher sugar concentration. The soil where the vineyards are grown is located in the hilly area of Valpolicella and is very varied, mostly clayey and calcareous. The grapes are dried in a fruttaio for 3-4 months, resulting in a weight loss of 40% of the original harvest weight. The grapes are then destemmed and softly pressed in the first half of January and are ready for vinification, which takes place in stainless steel at a controlled temperature for 22 to 24 days with daily pumping over. The long refinement takes place for 5 months in stainless steel, 15 months of maturation in wood, half of the time in Slavonian oak barrels and half in second-use barriques, and before being sold it rests in the bottle for 6 months.
