The Story
The Langhe Nebbiolo DOC, a wine produced for the first time in 2010, is one of the most famous exponents of the Giovanni Rosso winery. The company is located in the territory of Serralunga d'Alba, a small and picturesque municipality located in the province of Cuneo, in Piedmont. This still red, with a velvety and aromatic body, is obtained from a 100% Nebbiolo grape variety using a vine cultivation system known as Guyot. Giovanni Rosso produces approximately 40,000 bottles of this wine each year. The harvest is strictly manual, taking place around mid-October. The fermentation of grape skins and must takes place over a couple of weeks in concrete containers and involves frequent pumping over; The délestage technique with maceration on the lees is also used. The aging lasts several months in 25-hectoliter French oak barrels from the Fontainebleau Forest. Langhe Nebbiolo DOC can be enjoyed both young and over the next 10 years.
