The Story
Still red wine from Etna DOC, 15% ABV, produced by Girolamo Russo. Blend: 94% Nerello Mascalese, 6% Nerello Cappuccio, 2021 vintage. An Etna Rosso that tells the story of a unique terroir, cultivated on the northern slopes of the volcano, between 650 and 780 meters above sea level. The vines are mostly very ancient, some over 100 years old. Their roots are sunk in a unique terrain: the many layers of lava that the great volcano has erupted over the millennia. Hand-picked, second half of October. 15 days of maceration on the skins. Fermentation occurs spontaneously with yeasts naturally present on the grapes. Aged for 18 months in used tonneaux. A minimum of 6 months in bottle. Extremely complex bouquet featuring blackberry, currant, and morello cherry notes, perfectly complemented by hints of Mediterranean herbs. Intense ruby red color. Full-bodied, remarkably elegant, supported by an acidic vein that makes it fresh and vibrant, with an excellent structure and notable persistence of flavour.
