The Story
Still red wine from Etna DOC, 14.5% ABV, produced by Girolamo Russo. Blend: 94% Nerello Mascalese, 6% Nerello Cappuccio. 0.75L bottle, 2022 vintage. An Etna Rosso grown on the northern slopes of the volcano, at 700 meters above sea level in the Calderara Sottana district, from vines trained using the alberello and "modified" alberello espalier systems. Fifteen days of maceration on the skins, spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts, and 18 months of aging in used tonneaux. A minimum of 6 months of bottle aging. The result is a wine with an intense ruby red color, with an extremely complex bouquet featuring blackberry, currant, and morello cherry, enriched with hints of Mediterranean herbs. On the palate, it is broad, elegant, fresh, and vibrant, with remarkable persistence.
