The Story

Barolo Serralunga d'Alba DOCG, 14.5% ABV, produced by Mauro Veglio. 0.75-liter bottle, 2019 vintage. A Barolo that expresses the elegance and complexity of the Serralunga d'Alba terroir, with meticulous vinification and aging that enhances its characteristics. Soils are rich in limestone and gray marl, alternating with sandy substrates. Destemming without crushing, with a large portion of the berries remaining whole in the tank. Cold maceration occurs for the first 36-48 hours, followed by the start of alcoholic fermentation, during which a couple of daily pumpings are performed to ensure slow processes and delicate extractions. Maceration on the skins continues for approximately 20-25 days, followed by the beginning of malolactic fermentation. Aged in large 25-hectoliter French oak barrels for a total of 24 months. Fruity aromas of dark cherry, with iron, balsamic, and spicy notes. On the palate, the wine once again reveals aromas of dark fruit and cherry, supported by a lively and still youthful tannic structure that will evolve over time.
