The Story
Still organic red Barolo DOCG, 14.5% ABV, produced by Casa E. di Mirafiore. 100% Nebbiolo. 0.75L bottle, 2018 vintage. A Barolo made in a historic winery founded by the son of the first King of Italy, Emanuele Alberto, Count of Mirafiore. The grapes come from the La Villa vineyard in the municipality of Barolo. Vinification involves destemming and pressing, heated to around 32-33°C and pumping over. Aged in barriques for approximately 12 months, then in 2-3,000-liter Allier barrels for 1 year. The aroma is rich with black berry fruit: cherry, blackberry, and plum, with distinct hints of spices such as cinnamon, cloves, and black pepper. On the palate, the soft, sweet tannins blend with a strong fruit sensation. The acidity, well balanced with the tannins, gives a sensation of freshness that prolongs the sensations on the nose.
