Still red Gattinara DOCG, 14% ABV, 100% Nebbiolo, produced by Nervi Conterno. 0.75 L bottle, 2022 vintage. A wine made in the oldest winery in Gattinara, a small town in Alto Piemonte, in a fascinating region rich in winemaking history. Fermentation in temperature-controlled steel tanks. Aged for 36 months in 10 and 30 hl barrels. Elegant and regal bouquet. Rich aromas of medicinal herbs, mugwort, gentian, lemon balm, and juniper berry follow. Notes of cherry, wilted flowers, undergrowth, and mistletoe follow. Blood orange zest and a deep touch of soot then emerge. A refined pale ruby color. Full and fresh on the palate, it is vibrant and intact, with smooth and dense tannins. Long finish, with a balsamic and licorice background.
