The Story
Still organic red wine from Etna DOC, 13% ABV, produced by Nicosia. 100% Nerello Mascalese, 2021 vintage. A wine born on the slopes of Etna, from grapes grown at 550-600 meters above sea level, in mineral-rich volcanic soils. Nicosia's history begins in 1898, with a wine shop in Trecastagni. Fermentation lasts approximately 10-15 days at a controlled temperature (24-26°C). Aged primarily in stainless steel, 50% of the wine ages for 5-6 months in barriques and another 3-4 months in large barrels. The refinement is completed by a further maturation of at least 6 months in the bottle. Concentrated and elegant with notes of ripe red fruit, currants, cherries in alcohol, and sweet spices. Ruby red color tending to take on garnet highlights with aging. Warm, soft, juicy, harmonious, and persistent.
