The Story

Bassano 24 Carati Oro Grappa is a barrique-aged grappa produced from the distillation of fresh pomace from the vines of the DOC Breganze area in Veneto. A tribute to the city of Bassano del Grappa, it draws on the area's strong winemaking tradition and the experience gained by Poli Distillerie, active in the sector since 1898. Characterized by a complex and well-structured flavor, it has an amber color and is rich in aromas and fragrances ranging from vanilla to tea, from licorice to coffee. In 2014, Bassano 24 Carati was awarded the gold medal at the International Wine & Spirit Competition. This international wine competition honors wines and spirits from 90 countries around the world. The distillation process for Bassano 24 Carati Grappa is artisanal and discontinuous cycle. The steam still used is composed of small copper boilers and is one of the oldest still in operation in Italy. The boilers, heated by a flow of steam, are loaded with very fresh pomace for distillation. Once the raw material is exhausted, they are emptied manually and filled with new fresh pomace. This small batch process is the only way to ensure the highest quality of the product. Once the distillate is obtained, it is aged for 24 months in small barrels of fine French oak, called carati in Italian, and stored in underground cellars designed to ensure optimal temperature and humidity conditions. It will be the action of the wood that will ennoble the distillate, giving the Bassano 24 Carati Grappa its specific organoleptic qualities.
