The Story
Chianti Classico DOCG Brolio Bettino Barone Ricasoli is an elegant and complex red wine, rooted in the past yet decidedly in step with the times. A modern reinterpretation of traditional Chianti, the wine pays homage, in its name and intrepid character, to Bettino Ricasoli: Prime Minister at the time of the Kingdom of Italy, known as the Iron Baron, he is considered the true father of the Chianti production formula. This version of the famous Tuscan wine is born in the vineyards surrounding the fascinating Brolio Castle. In the province of Siena, in Gaiole in Chianti, between the dry, scorching summers and the cold winters of the continental climate, the grape varieties that compose it are grown, represented by the Sangiovese varieties, for 90%, and Abrusco, for the remaining 10%. In addition to the favorable climate, the soil, rich in limestone, marl, and alberese, also influences the exclusive flavor of the Sangiovese grapes, used without filtration. The process then continues with the traditional vinification in small steel vats where the grapes are left to macerate for about 20 days. Winner of numerous awards, awarded the Gambero Rosso 3 Glasses and honored with high scores from Parker and Suckling, the Chianti Classico DOCG Brolio Bettino Barone Ricasoli is a still red wine that ages for 18 months in large barrels. Its complex and long refinement continues further and, after a static decantation phase, it remains in the bottle for 3 months.
