The Story
Grappa Riserva Botti da Porto is one of several spirits produced by the Antica Distilleria Sibona. This company's tradition in the field of spirits is very ancient, dating back to the early 1900s when the founder began producing grappa in Pionesi d'Alba in the province of Cuneo. This area is the main cultivation site for fine grape varieties, such as Nebbiolo, Barbera, Dolcetto, Moscato, Chardonnay, Arneis, and Brachetto. The calcareous, gravelly soils ensure vigorous growth of the vines that produce fine Nebbiolo grapes, whose pomace represents the raw material for this high-quality grappa. Grappa Riserva Botti da Porto is obtained through a very particular production process that is still carried out following traditional methods. Immediately after the harvest, the fresh pomace is distilled immediately to preserve the aromas and flavors of the raw material. The grappa is then aged for a period of no less than 24 months in wooden barrels shipped directly from Portugal, previously used for the maturation of fine Port wine. This unique maturation process, also used for whisky, gives the grappa a distinctive fragrance that sets it apart from other products on the market.
